Master Ha Kinh visits Singapore LTK groups at the Singapore Botanic Gardens – July 27th to July 29th, 2007
It is with great excitement that we like to share this happy occasion with you all. Master Ha Kinh, who is approaching her 90’s and in great health, was accompanied by her three assistants for their first trip to Singapore. We stayed at Copthorne Orchid Hotel, close to the Botanic Gardens where five enthusiastic groups assemble at different times in the morning from 6:30am to 8:10am to practice LTK. The Botanic Gardens is the most beautiful park that is the pride of Singapore. Within its premises are acres of lush greenery, orchid gardens, a Cold House (housing mountain flora and fauna), Mist House, a Bromelaid collection and a laboratory where seedlings are cultured. The Gardens is indeed a perfect location for the morning exercises.
Master Ha Kinh and her assistants were met and accompanied by Ms. Evita Lee and Mr. Lo Sun Mun during their stay. We are most grateful for their hospitality.
We are most happy to report the groups are large and each numbered over a hundred . They are energetic and young in spirit and very agile. Of key importance is the fact that they acknowledge Master Ha Kinh as the founder of Luk Tung Kuen and were most curious to learn its history and the correct movements for the exercises. In fact, the learning process continued throughout our stay in Singapore! We were refining on the movements everywhere the group took us…in their leader’s home, in the restaurants and even in the food court.
During the formal dinner reception, they presented testimonies and thank the Master for sharing LTK with the world. What doctors cannot accomplish, they did it for themselves by being faithful to the exercises. Master was all smiles as her credibility just “shot sky high”.
To recap some of the highlights, we attended three sessions over the three days. Each group presented a keepsake to Master Ha Kinh. We were given huge beautiful flower bouquets of orchids and Bird of Paradise. Master was presented a (RISIS) gold dish with orchids dipped in gold by Mr. Tsai Chao Fang.
The groups got together to form a welcoming committee. Ha Kinh was photographed, videotaped and appeared on the evening edition of the local newspaper on the first day. This also generated a lot of interests and phone calls from the local community. During dinner, her DVD was played and many bought t-shirts, books and DVDs from her. She signed a lot of autographs. The handshakes, hugs and beaming smiles were reward enough for this trip. We also had lunch in Chinatown, courtesy of the welcoming committee to be followed with a city tour by Mr. Patrick Lee, VP of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce. We were also immersed in teaching the LTK movements at the restaurant.
We developed an instant bond and later, visited Mr. Peter Kwan, who is recovering from a leg injury and resting at home. He is a true leader and is credited for being the driving force behind the LTK in Singapore. He also did a lot of coordination from his command center at home so I believe he was truly delighted by the visit from Ha Kinh. At the final session on departure day, Evita writes and says “ It was described by someone as an intensive session and many went away feeling extremely exhilarated.” Nowhere is the true spirit of LTK more pronounced than in this group of friends in Singapore. We encourage you to join them at the Botanic Gardens the next time you are there. I come to realize that it is a privilege to become a leader/instructor for LTK. You have to love the exercise, the people you surround yourself with, be caring and patient. It means a lifetime commitment and dedication to an exercise that brings health to the community you live in. We hope to provide support to all groups and we welcome your insights to our webpage. It is only as good as you make it and use it to educate.
Ha Kinh’s main belief is to give back something to your community. Health is Wealth.
Our thanks to - Mary Giam, Charles & Irene Ho, Peter Kwan, Khong Kin Pang, Evita Lee, Patrick and Stephanie Lee, Mr. Lo Sun Mun, Alan and Jessie Poh , Victor Tan, A.W. Tay, Mr Tsai Chao Fang and Paul Wee. Hooray for Singapore LTK …and a very memorable trip indeed. |
